  • How often should I have my eyes tested?

Most adults need an eye exam every 2 years and children every year. Certain groups of patients  may require more frequent appointments and the Optometrist examining them would advise accordingly

  • If I have astigmatism can I still wear contact lenses?

Nearly all patients with astigmatism (irregular/rugby shaped corneas) can now be fitted with contact lenses. Soft or rigid gas permeable lenses (RGPs) can be used.

  • What causes cataract?

Cataracts are most commonly an age related condition but many factors can contribute to earlier onset . UV light exposure has a cumulative effect as does smoking or poor diet.

  • Will my eyes get worse by wearing glasses too much?

No.. after experiencing clearer vision you now have something to compare the blurry vision which makes your uncorrected vision seem worse. Not wearing glasses can lead to eye strain and fatigue in adults and can worsen prescriptions in children.
